From Beneath

Here is an image of a watercolour I made recently titled From Beneath.  I used the imagery of a vampire squid, which is an amazing deep sea creature that can turn itself inside out.

Luring

Luring is a multiple plate etching that I completed in my Honours year.  It was shown as part of the Affordable Art Fair in Melbourne at the Royal Exhibition Building earlier on in 2011.  It was difficult to print, mainly because it is a large 56 x 76 cm work made using three plates of copper.

Lurking Series

The Lurking Series consist of two intaglio prints made during my Honours year at RMIT University in Melbourne.  They have been shown in a number of exhibitions in 2011 including the Rick Amor Print Prize at Montsalvat, the Honours Endowment Travelling Scholarship Exhibition at RMIT School of Art Gallery and at Stop Press at Carbon Black Gallery.  More recently they were shown at the Annual Printmaking Award exhibition at Oak Hill Gallery in Mornington.

The lure of the South

The lure of the South was made during my Honours degree at RMIT University as part of an international exchange portfolio with the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. We did a large edition of 38 and the edition was swapped between all participants in the exchange portfolio. I have a beautiful set of prints from this folio. There were two requirements for this portfolio print, the first was that it had to be a final size of A4 (mine starts being A4 and opens up to reveal the creatures within). The second was that it related to the theme of North/ South. This print is an intaglio print on rag paper and its size is 59 x 21cm.

Nocturnal Ballet

Nocturnal Ballet is a lithograph that I made with some help from Peter Lancaster who is a wonderful master lithographer from Lancaster Press.  He recommended the technique used in the background which worked wonderfully.  This work was one of a number of works that were recently in a show at Carbon Black Gallery in Prahran called Stop Press which coincided with IMPACT 7, a printmaking conference held here in Melbourne.  This particular work is the 3rd state print from the Nocturnal Ballet series.
